UNITED/Media Church are the same, but different.

Let us explain. We recognise that all people like to learn in different ways and engage in different ways.  In fact this is nothing new.  Jesus after all used parables (stories appropriate to His listeners.)
At UNITED/Media Church we simply use the same principles. For those aged 9-14 on Sunday we meet, watch part of a DVD or film clip and learn from that.  As we started this venture we used Shrek.  (Do appearances matter, what makes good friendships, what makes a good king etc.)  Other topics include what we learnt from sport, Finding Nemo, Avatar, Shrek, The Simpsons, Friends and alike.

On a Monday every two weeks (see diary) we meet between 6.30 and 8.30pm in the Lower School Room  (when not bowling etc) of the Kingswood Congregational Chapel (hall at the bottom of the incline.)  Pizza, chinese, doughnuts or the 'food of the week' are provided and the young people choose either the video or other media forms, computer games, music.  During the evening we can share food and ask the question - What can we learn from that? (Quite a challenge for the leaders as the young people choose the material!!) Other things we are now involved in include supporting a youth project in Kenya, families in Kibera, Kenya and sponsoring a child (see links and other pages!)This is a way of being 'Church' that our young people asked for.  Why not come and see what it's like!
